project snow leopard launched
05/02/2009

This exciting development represents a major up-scaling of our research and community-based conservation efforts in the higher Himalaya. The launch of Project Snow Leopard came after five years of work by NCF/Snow Leopard Trust scientists Dr. Yash Veer Bhatnagar and Dr. Charudutt Mishra with the Central Government and the five Himalayan State Governments. Project Snow Leopard encourages a landscape approach to wildlife conservation in the Himalayan high altitudes, and is founded on the twin principles of robust science and strong community involvement in conservation.
